This is approximately the 20th year of this Step Study and about the 4th iteration of the material. The study guide evolved from a Big book study that was originally developed to get newcomers through the 4th and 5th steps. After participating in the study, several members of Clean Air North, edited the Study guide to focus on all of the steps. Every so often a group gets together and edits the guide, with the intent of creating more discussion in the groups. So this year will be version 5 of the step Study guide.

AA recovery has many components, and each of us finds strength in different measure from meetings, literature, slogans, sponsors, service, etc. Central to every AA’s recovery are the 12 Steps and their application to our lives. We believe understanding and practicing the 12 Steps are essential and continual actions in AA recovery. We have found that a Step Study is a powerful tool that can help us grow in understanding of our relationships and ourselves.

This Step Study guide has been assembled from the experience of both new and seasoned AA members and it reflects how these members have conducted step studies in the past. Like everything in AA, this is a guide; a tool, not a rule. Take what you like and leave the rest.
